Background:

Dr. Seth Newman is a board certified general surgeon with 10 years experience in private practice treating patients with a wide variety of general surgical conditions.  Dr. Newman's graduate medical education has been distinguished by awards for teaching and research.  While in medical shcool, he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.  As a General Surgery Resident at AMH, he was honored with a Frederick A. Collier Surgical Society Traveling Fellowship and was named the Rosenfeld Surgical Scholar.  As a staff surgeon, he has been recognized by his nomination for the Blockley Osler Award for Excellence in Clinical Teaching as a Temple University Affiliate 2004, receiving the Department of Surgery's Medical Student Award in 2005, and being awarded the Mandler Teaching Award by the Department of Family Medicine in 2007. 

Dr. Newman has been the author/co-author of studies published in the peer-reviewed journal Contemporary Surgery and Endocrine Practice.  He was the author/co-author of presentations at several scientific meetings, including the IX International AIDS Conference (Berlin); the Conjoint Meeting of the American, British, and Swedish Associations of Endocrine Surgeons; the 37th Annual Meeting of the Pennsylvainia Association of Thoracic Surgery; the Trauma Program Directors Meeting of Philadelphia; and the Frederick A. Collier Surgical Society. 

Dr. Newman is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons; he is also a memeber of the American Medical Association, Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, American Society of Breast Surgeons, American Hernia Society, Montgomery County Medical Society, Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, and Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons.
