Dr. Nussbaum is board certified in General Surgery and fellowship trained Surgical Oncologist with over 20 years experience in academic and private practice.  His area of special interest is the surgical treatment of cancer using advanced laparoendoscopic techniques, with a particular focus on :

  • Gastrointestinal Cancer
  • Melanoma
  • Breast Cancer
  • Thyroid Cancer

Dr. Nussbaum was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society in medical school.  His devotion to surgical education has been recognized by his receiving both the University of Pennsylvania Residents' Teaching Award and the Wallace Parks Ritchie Teaching Award from the Department of Surgery at Temple University Hospital.   Dr. Nussbaum has had several articles published in such peer-reviewed journals as Current Surgery, the Journal of Abdominal Surgery, Journal of Gastroenterology, Journal of Pancreatology, and Journal of Surgical Research.

Dr. Nussbaum is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons; he is also a member of the Society of Surgical Oncology Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, Charles B. Pucstow Surgical Society , Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, and the American Society of Breast Surgeons.
