Stefania E. Nolano, DO earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from LaSalle University in 2005. Dr. Nolano earned her Certificate in Biomedical Science in 2006 and her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree in 2010 from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed a fellowship in Breast Oncology at Bryn Mawr Hospital in 2016. Dr. Nolano is the Associate Director of the Breast Program at Abington Jefferson Health.

Dr. Nolano is a thought leader in the surgical treatment of breast cancer and has presented her work at multiple meetings and symposiums on the topic. In 2016, Dr. Nolano presented research findings on surgical technique and utilization of imaging modalities in breast cancer at various conferences including the Society of Surgical Oncology Annual Cancer Symposium in March 2016, the American Society of Breast Surgeons in April 2016 and the Conjoint meeting of the Philadelphia Academy of Surgeons in April 2016. In December 2016 she will present at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium on SAVI SCOUT, a cutting edge breast cancer localization technique which she hopes to trial at Abington Hospital.

Previously, Dr. Nolano presented at the ARIG Symposium in Paris in 2006 on chlamydia pneumonia. Dr. Nolano has authored and co-authored publications on both the surgical treatment of breast cancer and the treatment of chlamydia pneumonia. She has extensive leadership experience and has volunteered and mentored for a variety of causes.

In 2010 she volunteered on a mission trip to Ecuador where she participated in a month long rotation at various hospitals and clinics. In 2015, she volunteered on a mission trip to India where she provided free operative and post-operative care for patients in an underserved region. When it comes to patient care, Dr. Nolano believes in the importance of a team approach. She feels that good communication is vital to best help patients understand their disease and treatment plans. She has interest in the most up-to-date surgical techniques including nipple sparing mastectomies.

She is fluent in Italian and medical Spanish.

Dr. Nolano enjoys traveling, cooking, dancing, and running. She has participated in the Broad Street Run five times.
