Dr. Frankel has been in private practice since 1983. His areas of special interest include:
- Breast Surgery
- Gallbladder Surgery
- Hernia Surgery
Dr. Frankel has been the author/co-author of studies published in the following peer-reviewed journals: Cancer; Archives of the Oral Biology; Journals of Oral Pathology; Surgery, Gynecology & Obstetrics; and Surgical Endoscopy; and American Surgeon . He co-authored the chapter "Education in Surgical Practice" in Medical Education: A Surgical Perspective . He has received several awards for his dedication to teaching the general surgery residents and medical students at Abington Memorial Hospital including the Thomas L. Dent Award in 2003. He is a Fellow of the American Medical Association, the Pennsylvania Medical Society, and the Metropolitain Chapter of the American College of Surgeons. He was President of the Medical Staff from 1993-94 and served as the Chairman of the Professional Advisory Committee of Abington Home Care from 1991 – 2004.
Dr. Frankel enjoys golfing, traveling, biking, and going to the theatre to see musicals, plays, and operas.
